20% fewer tractors registered in the UK

Just 762 new tractors (50hp+) were registered in the UK in the first two months of this year, reports the AEA. This figure is down 20% on the same January and February in 2024.For the second year in a row, the number of agricultural tractors registered in January was well below average. The monthly total of 462 machines was only 3.0% fewer than in the same month last year but that still represented the slowest start to the year since 1999. There was no improvement in the number of registrations in February. At just 300 machines, and a -37.1% change compared with February 2024, it was the lowest for any month since December 1999.Source: AEAThe AEA confirms that the opening two months of the year are typically a quiet period for tractor registrations, following a relatively strong December figure. The Peterborough-based organisation says it will have a clearer idea of the trend for the year ahead once the March figures are out, which is usually the peak month for registrations.
